ARMERIA MARITIMA, SEA THRIFT 'Morning Star White'
The new Armeria 'Morning Star White' is the perfect compliment to ist sister variety 'Morning Star Deep Rose'. 'Morning Star White' provides a multitude of flowers, white flower color, long lasting blooms and deep, green grass-like foliage. At 15 cm 6'', 'Morning Star White' is dainty and petite, and is a perfect accent for rock gardens, container pots and perennial borders.

Germination: 7-10 days at 20-21 °C 68-70 °F, cover seed lightly with vermiculite after sowing. Keep soil slightly moist, but not wet.
Plug Culture: From Stage II reduce the temperature to 17-20 °C 63-68 °F.
Growing On: 6-8 weeks after sowing transplant 1 plug into pot (7-9 cm) 4'' or 2-3 plugs into bigger pots (10-15 cm) 6''.
Media: Use a well-drained, growing perennial substrate, pH: 5.8-7.0.
Photoperiod / Light: Day length neutral plants. Armeria needs high light levels. Start with supplemental lightig in early spring for an early crop.
Temperature: Grow at 13-17 °C 55-64 °F. In winter indoors frost free at 3-5 °C 37-41 °F or outdoors. Outdoors a fleece cover is needed. For forcing in spring grow for 10-11 weeks at 15-18 °C 59-64 °F. Cold temperatures from 7-12 °C slow down plant growth and increase crop times. At temperatures below 7 °C 45 °F plants stop growing.
Fertilization: Low-moderate fertilization levels are required.
Cultural Hints: After planting and establishing, treat pots with a fungicide against root diseases and clean the plants well. The plant growth is slow and the plant develops a tap root. Dry, light and airy cultivation. The roots are very sensitive to wet substrates.
