TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Crop Time: Non-flowering plugs 6-7 weeks; flowering pots (seed to flower): 13-15 weeks, White is 1 week earlier to flower than Rose. Large flowering plants including overwintering: 8-9 months
Sell Period: Mid-April-October
Seed Form: Raw seed
Seed Count: 0 K/g
Sowing Time: February-March for flowers in May-June, March-May for flowers in August-September, and August-September for flowering pots in the following year after overwintering
Sowing Method: Multiple sow, 3-5 seeds per plug
Germination: Stage I: 7-10 days at 23-25 °C; Stages II-IV: 11-42 days at 18-20 °C. Gently tamp seeds down. Keep uniformly moist. Provide a thin Vermiculite cover. Do not place in direct sunlight. From Stage II: reduce media moisture level. Gypsophila repens is intolerant of waterlogging.
Growing On: After 6-7 weeks, transplant into 8-10 cm pots using several plants per pot.
Temperature: 10-18 °C, start ventilating at 20 °C. Plants may be overwintered in house at 3-5 °C or in the field. For outdoor overwintering, cover with a non-woven cloth. The lower the growing temperature, the more compact and neater the plant habit.
Fertilization: Requires low nutrient levels. Gypsophila repens is sensitive to salt. It is better to apply low level fertilization more frequently rather than applying high level fertilization once.
Cultural Hints: Intolerant of waterlogging. Keep on the dry side and allow the pots to dry off between irrigations. Keeping the media too moist will reduce plant quality. Be sure to provide good drainage if growing the crop on soil.

* Germination Stages (from seed to finished young plant)
Stage I: Starts with the radicle breaking through the testa. The roots are touching the medium. Ends with fully developed cotyledons.
Stage II: Starts from fully developed cotyledons. Ends with the fully developed true leaf or true leaf pair.
Stage III: Starts from the fully developed true leaf or true leaf pair and ends with 80% of the young plants being marketable.
Stage IV: All young plants are ready for sale and in the process of being hardened off. This stage lasts about 7 days. Hint:
The cultural recommendations are based on results from trials conducted under Central European conditions. Different conditions in other parts of the world may lead to deviations in results achieved.
